Iowa manager Marty Pevey made three calls to Triantos’ silenced phone, followed by a call to his hotel room. Ultimately, a hitting coach’s knock on the door delivered the news.

Triantos expressed surprise and happiness upon receiving news of his call-up. His initial actions after finding out included calling his parents and sharing the excitement with his roommate and teammate B.J. Murray. This weekend, approximately 15 friends and family members will attend the games, hoping to witness his debut.

Manager Craig Counsell indicated that Triantos might face limited playing time due to the current roster setup, a situation similar to what Alcántara encountered. Counsell praised Triantos’ performance this season, noting this promotion serves as an introduction to the majors.

Triantos, ranked as the Cubs’ No. 11 prospect by MLB.com, displayed versatility by playing five positions for Iowa. Counsell suggested that Triantos will likely play second base, third base, and left field for the Cubs.

Despite limited game action, exposure to the major leagues benefits prospects like Triantos, offering insight into faster gameplay and decision-making. Counsell emphasized the importance of adapting to the new environment and learning the language of the big leagues.
