Seaplane Crash Off Washington Coast Leads to Injuries

Several individuals sustained injuries, with one in critical condition, after a seaplane crash near Washington state’s coast on Thursday. The incident involved a Kenmore Air seaplane carrying 11 people.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the seaplane made an emergency landing and subsequently caught fire close to Sucia Island in the San Juan Islands around 5:30 p.m. Authorities including the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office reported that both the pilot and the 10 passengers aboard were safely rescued from the water.

The sheriff’s office stated, “There are multiple patients with injuries ranging from head injuries to broken bones and lacerations, with one patient in critical condition and no reports of fatalities at this time.”

Kenmore Air reported that the de Havilland DHC-3 Otter aircraft went down approximately 45 minutes after departing from Lake Union in Seattle. In response, Kenmore Air canceled all scheduled flights for Friday.
