Cubs Suffer Setback in Loss to Twins After Swanson’s Injury

The evening took a difficult turn when Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson was struck in the face by a baseball. While attempting to turn a double play against the Minnesota Twins, the ball from first baseman Michael Busch unexpectedly deviated, clipping a Twins base runner. It continued at high speed, hitting Swanson hard in the mouth. Second baseman Nico Hoerner noted Swanson’s resilience, stating, “He’s not a dramatic person at all. So I know that when he’s going down, there’s something going on, obviously. A baseball to the face never feels good. He’s a tough guy, but that still doesn’t feel good.”
