Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat from New York, decided not to comment on the latest controversy concerning a member of his party in a recent interaction with Fox News Digital. Schumer preferred to highlight his upcoming speech targeting President Donald Trump’s prime-time address regarding foreign interference in the 2020 election.

Reports from the New York Post revealed that Sen. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., engaged in sexual relationships with two Democratic House staffers. The staffers were not part of his office during his time as a member of the House. House rules allow relationships with staffers outside one’s office. Sources suggest these relationships occurred while Gallego was unmarried.

When approached about Gallego’s situation, Schumer emphasized his focus on criticizing Trump’s upcoming address rather than addressing the scandal, stating, “I’m not—I’m focused on this right now.”

The allegations mark another negative headline for Gallego, who has been discussed as a potential candidate for the 2028 presidential election. Gallego acknowledged his involvement in the two relationships with aides to Texas Democrats, telling reporters, “I’m not going to engage in gossip.”
