Two 15-year-old girls were involved in a serious accident while riding an e-bike. The crash happened Tuesday night in Libertyville, involving an SUV.
Emergency responders were alerted at 9:08 p.m. to the scene, located at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Winchester Road. The incident report detailed the involvement of a vehicle and an e-bike.
According to the police, the SUV, specifically a Chevrolet Blazer, was going north on Milwaukee Avenue. It proceeded through the intersection with a green light at Winchester Road. During this time, the Blazer collided with the e-bike. The bike was heading east and crossing Milwaukee Avenue, just to the north of the intersection.
Following the collision, both riders were initially taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. One of the girls required further transportation to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago due to life-threatening injuries. The second girl stayed at Condell, her injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
Police reported that the driver of the Blazer was not hurt in the incident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
