Authorities have reported a significant drug discovery in San Francisco. The incident involved a California man who allegedly left behind a backpack containing a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine in a rideshare vehicle.
The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) disclosed that they recovered approximately three-quarters of a pound of suspected meth after the rideshare driver notified them. The street value of the drugs is estimated to exceed $30,000, with typical prices reaching up to $100 per gram, as documented by the treatment directory Recovered.
A suspect’s rideshare trip took an unexpected turn after he left behind a bag containing more than 300 grams of methamphetamine,
said SFPD.
The incident occurred in the Tenderloin neighborhood, an area known for its challenges related to drug activity, homelessness, and violent crime.
Police have identified the suspect as Jessie Ottman-Comb, a 41-year-old resident of Sacramento. Authorities worked swiftly with the rideshare driver to orchestrate the return of the backpack, which ultimately led them to Ottman-Comb at a motel where he was staying.
Upon searching the motel room, officers reportedly uncovered two cellphones, two tablets, and drug paraphernalia. These items, along with the suspected methamphetamine from the rideshare vehicle, were seized as evidence.
In total, authorities recovered 355.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Ottman-Comb has been booked into the San Francisco County Jail on multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and transportation or sale of methamphetamine.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
