Police Investigate Armed Man’s Arrival at U.S. Capitol Barricade

On Monday, an armed individual caused a stir when he drove to a security barricade outside the U.S. Capitol. The incident led to an investigation and temporarily closed part of the Capitol grounds.

Arrest and Immediate Actions

U.S. Capitol Police arrested the man at the North Barricade after officers found he was carrying a firearm. Firearms are strictly forbidden on Capitol Grounds. Authorities shut down the area and began processing the scene.

“Our investigators are working to learn more about the suspect and why he drove to the U.S. Capitol,” stated Capitol Police.

Ongoing Investigation

As of now, the suspect’s identity remains undisclosed, and charges have not been announced. A U.S. Capitol Police officer was present in Washington, D.C., during the incident as seen in recent photographs.

Scene Details and Continued Efforts

Police operations continued Monday afternoon. Officers extracted items from a Ford Bronco parked at the barricade. These items, viewed from a distance, included water bottles and other personal effects. A dog inside the vehicle was safely removed and taken by the SPCA.

The North Barricade remains closed while investigations proceed.
