Justin Baldoni is speaking out two years after the legal drama involving Blake Lively began. On Wednesday night, Baldoni and his wife, Emily, shared a video on Instagram detailing their experience over the last two years, describing it as filled with ‘injustice’ and ‘trauma.’
Baldoni stated, ‘We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say.’ He explained that each time they considered speaking out, circumstances made it feel inappropriate, so they reflected and prayed about it.
Emily Baldoni echoed Justin’s sentiments, adding, ‘This feels like the moment.’ She acknowledged the complexity of the situation: ‘There’s so much to say.’ The legal challenge between Lively and Baldoni traces back to the production of the movie ‘It Ends With Us,’ due in 2024. Tensions were rumored during the movie’s promotion when Baldoni separately promoted the film from Lively and other cast members.
BLAKE LIVELY ALLEGES ‘MEAN GIRL’ SMEAR CAMPAIGN DAMAGED HER CAREER, SEEKS UP TO $296M
In December 2024, Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment on set and claimed a campaign was orchestrated against her. Baldoni denied these allegations and subsequently sued Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times, accusing them of defamation, extortion, and attempting to ruin his career.
The following year saw a public legal battle with released text messages, footage, subpoenas, and multiple court filings. Ultimately, both parties reached a settlement in May 2026, with neither admitting wrongdoing or paying damages. However, Lively’s request for roughly $8 million in attorney fees remains contested by Baldoni.
In their recent video, Justin Baldoni shared that they wouldn’t cover everything, but both expressed gratitude for the experiences and support they’ve received. Emily remarked that their gratitude doesn’t erase the ‘injustice and pain’ they felt over the years.
The couple noted their struggle to comprehend the situation and its presentation as a fight for women. Emily declared facing ‘a lot of trauma’ made discussing the issue challenging.
‘The truth and the facts have spoken for themselves.’
Baldoni noted that despite the tumultuous legal battle, the justice system was allowed to proceed. Emily added that facts ultimately spoke for themselves. The couple, married in 2013, updated fans on their post-legal battle lives, emphasizing their healing process.
Justin stated, ‘If you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear. It looks different every day. We have had to rethink for ourselves what is real, and what matters.’ He highlighted the importance of family, friends, community, and faith.
This ordeal led to greater closeness and devotion between Justin and Emily, as noted by Justin, who valued Emily’s prayers for discernment from the public and thanked supporters.
‘You have given your time to fight for us.’
In concluding the video, Justin shared the lesson from their journey, pointing out that love emerges when things are stripped away. He mentioned ongoing healing from the issue with Lively.
Emily noted that while there’s more to discuss, the focus for now remains on healing and spending time with family.
The court battle between Baldoni and Lively drew considerable attention due to its impact on the movie, celebrity involvement, and broader workplace conduct discussions.
