A video circulated showing a verbal exchange between the Hassan brothers and a Dallas police officer. The dispute reportedly arose as a player was preparing to take a photo with a young fan. As the officer initially approached Hossam Hassan, Ibrahim Hassan became involved and the situation escalated into a shoving match. Fans had gathered outside the hotel seeking autographs and photos with players ahead of Egypt’s match against Australia.

Official Police Statement

The Dallas Police issued a statement confirming they responded to a request from hotel security regarding an individual attempting unauthorized access without event credentials. The statement noted that the incident was resolved on the scene, and police had discussions with Egyptian representatives to address their concerns. No arrests or injuries were reported.

Through a translator, Hossam Hassan said that the team accepted an apology from law enforcement. He expressed satisfaction with the security personnel and praised the organizational support accompanying the team. However, he provided no further details regarding the confrontation during a brief news conference.

Egypt’s World Cup Journey

Hossam Hassan, who has been leading the Egyptian team since 2024, was speaking publicly about the incident for the first time since the video emerged online. Egypt’s players chose not to directly comment on the incident during a news conference following their match against Australia. Under Hassan’s guidance, Egypt advanced from an unbeaten group stage to their debut knockout round victory against Australia.

Ibrahim Hassan, the team’s director and Hossam’s twin brother, shares a history of playing for the national team. Both have transitioned from their roles as national players to coaching and administration.

The altercation at the Dallas hotel is one of multiple reported incidents between World Cup delegations and U.S. security personnel. Egyptian officials attributed the tension to fans, including children, attempting to interact with players for photos, a common occurrence as interest in the tournament has grown.
