Mt. Olive Pickle Company Withdraws from Great American State Fair

The Mt. Olive Pickle Company has chosen to exit the Great American State Fair held in Washington, D.C. This decision was made following the unexpected inclusion of a Confederate flag in the North Carolina exhibit.

Originally, Mt. Olive was invited to participate in the state exhibit, aiming to showcase the essence of North Carolina. The company, hailing from Mount Olive, North Carolina, expressed pride in their state roots and agreed to partake in an exhibit highlighting the state’s finest attributes.

Several states, including North Carolina, opted out of attending the fair due to budget constraints. Despite this, representation at the 16-day event persisted through various companies stepping forward. Nexstar Washington correspondent Gabrielle Caracciolo noted the involvement of local enterprises.

The Confederate flag was featured unexpectedly in a video within the North Carolina exhibit, prompting Mt. Olive Pickle Company to retract its participation. Their statement emphasized the company’s commitment to values such as human dignity, opportunity, and freedom.

Meanwhile, the North Carolina booth remains active with other local businesses present. Operation Helo is discussing rapid response disaster relief strategies. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to take photos with a stock car from Richard Childress Racing.
