Appreciating American Cuisine

Co-hosts of ‘Fox & Friends’ Rachel Campos-Duffy, Charlie Hurt, and Griff Jenkins have engaged in a lively discussion about the growing international appeal of American cuisine following the US World Cup victory. They highlighted how tourists are increasingly discovering and enjoying ranch dressing, a staple in American kitchens.

There was playful commentary about cultural impacts, including the Transportation Security Administration’s warnings about packing liquid ranch dressing in carry-on luggage. This conversation reflects the unexpected global culinary preferences manifesting in recent times.

FIFA’s New Red Card Rule in World Cup

The FIFA World Cup 2026 introduced a new rule empowering officials to issue red cards to players covering their mouths while confronting opponents. This rule aims to maintain transparency and sportsmanship.

Paraguay’s Miguel Almiron was the first to receive a red card under this rule during a match against Turkey. In the Group D encounter held in Santa Clara, California, Almiron covered his mouth while exchanging words with Turkey’s Mert Mulder, leading referee Ivan Barton to consult video review and eject Almiron from the match.

Despite the red card reducing Paraguay to 10 players, they secured a 1-0 win against Turkey, enabling the US to clinch first place in their World Cup group.

“According to the law, if you cover your mouth you’re sent off. Red card,” coach Gustavo Alfaro said. “There’s nothing I can do about that.”

Paraguay now faces a decisive match against Australia, where Almiron’s suspension could affect their performance. The outcome will determine the group standings, although Paraguay has an 84% probability of advancing despite potential setbacks.

Reasons Behind the Rule Change

FIFA President Gianni Infantino advocated for the new rule following incidents involving Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni during a Champions League game. The rule aims to deter players from hiding verbal misconduct.

This adjustment highlights FIFA’s continued efforts to uphold fairness and sportsmanship in the sport.
