During the second period, Vinni Lettieri successfully scored on a power play. This pivotal moment contributed to the Marlies’ success. Also adding to the score were Benoit-Olivier Groulx and Jacob Quillan, who each scored during the same period for the Marlies, the primary affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.
Landon Sim marked the end of the first period with a goal, reducing the Wolves’ lead to 2-1. In goal, Artur Akhtyamov excelled by making 27 saves, earning the title of playoff MVP. His postseason record stood at 15-7, featuring a goals-against average of 2.22 and a save percentage of .923. The Marlies had previously claimed the Calder Cup in 2018.
For the Chicago Wolves, Felix Unger Sörum performed notably, scoring twice and providing an assist. Additional contribution came from Josiah Slavin, while Cayden Primeau made 19 saves. Despite a strong effort, the Wolves could not secure another win following their overtime victory of 4-3 on Thursday night, which had staved off elimination in the best-of-seven series.
