The New York Knicks have accepted an invitation from the White House to celebrate their NBA championship. Knicks owner James Dolan confirmed the news on the “The Carton Show” on WFAN New York. Dolan expressed pride in bringing the team to the White House and mentioned inviting President Donald Trump, a long-time friend, to attend a game.
The Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Championship Series, solidifying their victory in five games. Dolan noted that while they have accepted the invitation, details such as the date and the size of the traveling party are yet to be finalized.
In a contrasting scenario, the Seattle Seahawks’ visit to the White House remains uncertain despite their Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots on February 8. The White House press office provided no updates on the Seahawks’ visit, advising to check back later.
The Philadelphia Eagles were the last NFL team to visit the White House, celebrating their Super Bowl LIX victory in April 2025. That timing coincided with the team’s offseason, unlike the Seahawks, whose offseason ended with the conclusion of their minicamp on June 11. The team now enjoys a break until the training camp begins at the end of July.
The possibility of a Seahawks visit to the White House diminishes as bringing the team together during their summer break is impractical. Furthermore, coaches prefer to keep regular travel schedules, making mid-season visits unlikely. The Seahawks play the Washington Commanders on September 27, offering a slim chance for a White House visit if the team adjusts its travel plans, but such changes are not common in the NFL.
If the Seahawks do not celebrate at the White House, questions may arise about the reasons behind the decision. The Eagles experienced a similar situation in 2018, where negotiations for a visit did not lead to fruition.
