JD Vance Reflects on ‘The View’ Experience During Book Tour

1 week ago 0

Vice President JD Vance recounted his recent appearance on “The View” while promoting his new spiritual memoir, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.” During an interview on “Gutfeld!” Vance shared his surprise over his treatment by the show’s hosts.

“I expected them to be absolutely vicious, and they were only a little bit vicious. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be,” Vance stated. He even received an unexpected compliment from Joy Behar, who told him, “You’re, like, pretty good for a Republican.” Vance expressed his surprise at this remark.

“I thought that Sunny, the woman to my left, was going to call me a racist. In reality, it was Whoopi, the woman to my right, who called me a racist. So expectations were defied,” Vance jested.

The discussion on the ABC talk show was not without its tension. Vance grappled with co-host Whoopi Goldberg over accusations related to the Trump administration’s alleged alterations of Black history exhibits in museums. The debates also touched on other issues, including President Donald Trump’s commentary on inflation and immigration policies.

Before his appearance, Vance expressed optimism about engaging in meaningful discussions with “The View” hosts. Speaking with Fox News Digital, he hoped for a constructive conversation. “It may be the optimist in me, but I just fundamentally think that most people — even if I disagree with them — you ought to try to have a conversation with them,” Vance said. He remained cautiously hopeful about the exchange.

JD Vance’s discussion on “The View” is part of his broader efforts to promote his book and engage with diverse audiences on critical societal topics.
