The Los Angeles Sparks made a significant choice in the 2024 WNBA Draft by selecting Cameron Brink with the No. 2 overall pick. Yet, the past couple of years have been challenging for the 24-year-old athlete.
Brink’s first year in the WNBA was halted prematurely. After playing 14 games, she faced a setback with a season-ending ACL tear on June 18, 2024. This unfortunate incident also affected her performance in the 2025 season, limiting her appearances. Brink made her comeback on July 29, 2025, but only participated in 19 games that year.
This season, Brink aimed to make a strong return and showcase her potential without any physical limitations. However, during the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, another challenge emerged. The Sparks lost 78-58 to the Golden State Valkyries, and Brink faced a new obstacle.
“Cameron Brink started limping toward the bench before taking a seat on the floor before she got there,” reported Kendra Andrews from ESPN during the game. “Her teammates are now helping her up over to a seat. Not quite sure what happened. She stood in the corner for a bit and is now walking off of the court under her own power.”
Following the match, Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts provided limited information, stating, “She’s getting evaluated right now.” It wasn’t until later that Sparks beat reporter John W. Davis confirmed Brink’s left ankle injury. As a result, she would not play in their next game against the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday.
Brink’s supporters are hopeful that her time away from the court will be brief. Currently, she has been averaging 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 assists through 14 games this season for the Sparks, who hold a 7-7 record.
