Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith criticized former First Lady Jill Biden during a recent episode of his podcast. Smith argued that her public statements are a reflection of issues within the Democratic Party’s approach.
On his “Straight Shooter” podcast, Smith discussed Jill Biden’s promotion of her memoir, “View From the East Wing.” He highlighted how she initially supported President Joe Biden’s health during the 2024 elections but later revealed concerns during a debate against Donald Trump.
“You had commentators say on television he looked like an elderly patient,” Smith remarked, expressing disbelief at Jill Biden’s initial positive comments. “Now almost two years later, she reveals she thought he had a stroke. He was so unlike himself.”
Smith’s critique comes at a critical time with midterm elections and other political races on the horizon. He believes Jill Biden’s admission was poorly timed for the Democrats. “You’re going to admit you were lying,” he said, questioning the strategy.
As a result, Smith argued that these actions give Republicans confidence to pursue elections in traditionally Democratic areas like California. He stated that his comments are pro-Democrat, aiming to guide the party toward success.
“I’m trying to tell you how to win,” Smith explained, advising the Democrats. “Avoid looking dishonest.”
Jill Biden acknowledged Joe Biden after the debate, commending his performance. Yet, her memoir reveals they both realized the debate went poorly, with Jill initially fearing a stroke.
