A search is ongoing for a suspect after a graduation ceremony shooting at a high school in California resulted in one fatality and injuries to three others.
Fairfield Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of Fairfield High School at around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The incident happened shortly after the Sam Yeteo High School graduation ceremony concluded, as attendees gathered to take photos.
Officer Michelle Belyea, spokesperson for the Fairfield Police Department, reported that four individuals were shot. She stated, “One is deceased and three others are receiving treatment at local hospitals.” Belyea did not disclose information regarding the victims’ identities or the severity of their injuries.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Details about the suspect remain undisclosed. Suisun City Mayor Alma Hernandez mentioned on Facebook that an “active shooter chase” was occurring in Fairfield earlier that evening.
