A tragic incident occurred on Chicago’s South Side on Friday when a 9-year-old boy shot a 13-year-old boy. According to police reports, the shooting took place in a residence located on the 5200 block of South Wells Street in the Fuller Park neighborhood.
The 9-year-old fired a single shot from a firearm, which struck the 13-year-old just after 4 p.m. The victim was quickly transported to UChicago Medicine. He is in critical condition due to a gunshot wound to his shoulder.
Authorities recovered one handgun at the scene. Area detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
