49ers Coach Addresses Owner Jed York’s Legal Situation

Shanahan addressed questions regarding York’s arrest and his no-contest plea to charges of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools. He emphasized that this situation does not impact the football team. “As the coach, my concern is whether it affects us as a team. It doesn’t,” Shanahan stated. “What we do day to day hasn’t changed.”

Shanahan himself was recently involved in a car accident, which he acknowledged hasn’t distracted the team either. “Training camp has proceeded as usual,” he assured.

Despite these developments, Shanahan reiterated his unchanged regard for York and his family. The coach acknowledged the personal nature of the issue and expressed respect for York and his family.

Nevertheless, Shanahan remains focused on the team’s progress and believes the players are unfazed by the unwanted attention. “Players deal with cameras and public scrutiny throughout their careers,” he said. “They’re used to handling such situations.”
