Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has expressed disapproval of President Donald Trump’s recent endorsement of Republican Representative María Elvira Salazar for re-election. Greene, a former ally of Trump, voiced her criticism on social media, stating that Salazar shows more support for undocumented immigrants than many Democrats. Greene described Trump’s endorsements as insulting to his base.
When contacted for comment, Salazar’s campaign did not immediately provide a response, and the White House also remained silent on the matter.
In contrast, President Trump expressed strong support for Salazar through a post on Truth Social. He commended her performance in representing Florida’s 27th Congressional District and firmly endorsed her re-election, emphasizing his confidence that she will never disappoint the constituents.
Salazar, who has been in the House of Representatives since 2021, expressed her gratitude for Trump’s endorsement, pledging to continue representing her district and advocating for key issues. She outlined her commitment to restoring order to the immigration system, ensuring robust border security, reducing housing costs, protecting American jobs, and opposing socialism and communism while defending freedom.
The congresswoman highlighted Miami as a city built by immigrants seeking freedom and opportunities, asserting that her personal narrative reflects this ethos. She vowed to continue delivering on her promises and working towards prosperity for all residents.
Greene, who left office after a dispute with Trump, had previously criticized his endorsement approach, claiming that it sustains rather than challenges the political establishment.
Meanwhile, the White House spokesman, Davis Ingle, defended Trump’s political strategy, crediting the president with creating an unprecedented coalition that has led to significant Republican achievements. He countered Greene’s remarks by highlighting Trump’s effectiveness in expanding the party’s influence.
