Mack Hollins’ Unique Arrival at Super Bowl LX

1 month ago 0

New England Patriots wide receiver, Mack Hollins, has a well-known penchant for walking barefoot whenever he’s not on the football field. This made his barefoot arrival in Santa Clara, California, in the hours leading up to Super Bowl LX less than surprising. The true eye-opener was what he chose to wear.

The 32-year-old approached the Patriots’ locker room in an ensemble that seemed inspired by the infamous character, Hannibal Lecter. Hollins sported a facemask reminiscent of the fictional character, with handcuffs on his wrists and his feet in shackles. Completing the look, he donned a red jumpsuit emblazoned with “Range 13” on the back.

Interestingly, Hollins came holding the high school jersey of Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel as he moved through Levi’s Stadium tunnel. Vrabel has the rare chance to become the first individual to secure a Super Bowl victory both as a player and a head coach for the same team. Hollins performed early warmups on the field that Sunday, wearing a No. 84 “Warriors” jersey, alongside his usual lack of shoes.

The jersey seemed to be a tribute, possibly alluding to the cult-classic film “The Warriors,” a nod to the team’s undefeated away games this season. The Patriots’ successful road game streak became a morale booster, a rallying cry drawn from the film.

Throughout the season, Vrabel showed the team clips of the 1980s wrestling duo, the Road Warriors, as a source of motivation. As those clips became exhausted, Vrabel substituted footage from the movie “The Warriors.” At age 50, Vrabel expressed surprise that these inspirations struck a chord with the players. “It’s amazing what sticks. I didn’t think at the time that it would have stuck, but here we are at the end of January, and it’s still sticking,” Vrabel noted.

Despite being designated as the home team in a neutral venue, the Patriots opted to maintain their “road warriors” spirit by wearing white jerseys for the Super Bowl.

This striking arrival isn’t Hollins’ only notable pre-game outfit. Before a January 2025 playoff game featuring the Bills and Ravens, Hollins, then with Buffalo, arrived in a vibrant outfit complete with sunglasses, a straw hat, swim shorts, and a floral shirt, carrying a beach towel and a mini-football to the stadium in Orchard Park, New York.
