Hospital Evacuated Due to Fire in Dickson City, PA

DICKSON CITY, PA — On Wednesday night, emergency response teams swiftly tackled a significant blaze that broke out in a hospital in Pennsylvania. The fire affected part of the facility, prompting the immediate evacuation of patients, staff, and visitors, according to official reports.

A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed that everyone was successfully evacuated from Lehigh Valley Hospital, Dickson City. Emergency personnel remained on-site into early Thursday morning to control the situation.

Governor Josh Shapiro shared on the social media platform X, acknowledging the combined efforts of the state police, emergency management agency, and health department in addressing the incident. He expressed his gratitude by saying, “Thank you to every first responder running toward danger to help their fellow Pennsylvanians.” He added that both he and Lori were keeping the hospital staff, patients, their families, and the entire community in their thoughts and prayers.

Various images and videos circulated online show flames erupting from the top of the hospital’s Orthopedic Institute. As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Dickson City is located approximately 6 miles north of Scranton.

U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan Jr., representing the district which includes Dickson City, took to X to express his appreciation, stating, “Deep gratitude goes to the first responders and hospital teams whose swift, professional actions ensured the safety and well-being of everyone involved.”
