TUCSON, Ariz. – NBC’s “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie and her siblings made a heartfelt plea on Instagram concerning their missing mother, Nancy Guthrie. They urged anyone possibly involved in the situation to make contact. Arizona authorities have indicated that evidence alludes to a crime, and reports suggest a potential ransom demand has been made.
Savannah Guthrie began the family’s appeal by expressing gratitude for the support and prayers they have received. She described her mother as the core of their family, stressing Nancy’s fragile health and critical need for medication.
“Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light,” Guthrie said. “She’s funny, spunky. She has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her and you’ll see.”
Savannah emphasized the urgency of the situation due to her mother’s fragile health conditions. “We have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can,” she continued.
Her sister, Annie Guthrie, also poured out her emotions, appealing directly to Nancy and sharing the family’s deep-seated desperation. “Momma, if you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you,” Annie expressed through tears.
Savannah further addressed her mother, instilling words of faith and hope. “Mommy? If you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that even in this valley, He is with you,” she reassured.
Presidential Support
Former President Donald Trump also stepped in, providing federal law enforcement support. “I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump announced.
Ultimately, the hope for Nancy’s safe return has garnered national attention with a full deployment of resources to aid in the search.
Investigation Details
Investigations led by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have heightened, with deputies revisiting Nancy’s Tucson home, demarcating it as a crime scene. Law enforcement, however, has not detailed why they returned to the location four days after her disappearance. K-9 units were deployed for search efforts.
The last sighting of Nancy Guthrie was around 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday at her home. Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed the incident as a crime, referencing blood traces found leading from the entryway outside to the driveway.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has stated they suspect Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will, considering possible kidnapping or abduction.
As of yet, Sheriff Nanos has declined to confirm the existence of a ransom demand despite media reports, stating the investigation is following all possible leads.
The White House also lent support, encouraging public help while expressing prayers for Nancy’s safe return. “Anyone with information is urged to contact 911,” their statement read.
Savannah took to social media, emphasizing the power of prayer and humanity, stating, “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant.”
