Tom Steyer, a prominent billionaire, aims to address California’s housing crisis if elected as governor. Known for his progressive policies, he promises to make housing more affordable.
Steyer’s wealth, built through a successful San Francisco hedge fund, has raised concerns among voters. His approach to real estate mirrors that of many affluent Californians. His impressive property collection includes cliff-top mansions with Golden Gate Bridge views and a 1909 classical home in a secure gated community. Each is a testament to his financial accomplishments.
In San Francisco, he owns a $2 million condo with views of the City Hall dome. Another residence lies near Stinson Beach, north of San Francisco, offering proximity to the Pacific Ocean.
Steyer expanded his holdings with a unique investment in Pescadero, an hour south of San Francisco. Here, he owns 11 plots of land, which include single-family and mobile homes. This land forms part of TomKat Ranch, an 1,800-acre estate named after Steyer and his wife, Kat Taylor, emphasizing sustainable farming practices.
His real estate extends beyond California. Steyer owns a Lake Tahoe home on the Nevada side, a Fifth Avenue apartment in New York City, and an additional unit referred to as a “maid’s room.” Records indicate these holdings total more than a dozen homes owned by Steyer or his entities.
