Brandi Glanville recently shared her worries about potentially contracting a “sexually transmitted ringworm” in her throat. The 53-year-old discussed these medical concerns with Lisa Ann, a former adult film star, on her podcast “Brandi Glanville Unfiltered.” Glanville suspects she might have contracted this infection while dating someone involved in the adult film industry.
Lisa Ann mentioned that ringworm is “very common on set” and often goes undiagnosed as many are unaware of what to look for. Makeup artists have to inspect new actors to ensure they do not have the contagious skin infection. According to the Mayo Clinic, ringworm is a common fungal infection affecting the skin, hair, or nails, and contrary to its name, it is not caused by a worm.
Glanville spoke of her struggle with the infection, initially thinking it affected her throat until her friend informed her. Despite undergoing various inconclusive tests, she noted, “We’re battling this weird thing.” Emphasizing the infection’s ability to hide within the body, she said, “They can burrow deep into your ears and all that.” She also speculated that her partner, who engaged in wrestling, might have contracted the infection beforehand.
Previously, Glanville suspected she contracted a parasite after taking a trip to Morocco in 2023. She experienced facial paralysis, initially diagnosed as stress-induced angioedema, a condition that can cause swelling similar to hives, affecting deeper skin layers. However, her symptoms persisted, and she questioned angioedema as the root of her health issues.
By February, Glanville discovered that complications from her 20-year-old ruptured breast implants were behind her health troubles. Before finding out the real cause, she spent over $70,000 to identify the source of her continuous health problems. Her endeavors focused on finding an answer to what had been a challenging period in her life.
