Thekla Defeats Opponents to Retain AEW Women’s World Championship

4 weeks ago 0

NEW YORK – In an intense match at the Double or Nothing event, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) women’s world champion Thekla defended her title. Thekla faced off against Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, and Hikaru Shida in a four-way battle on Sunday.

As soon as the bell rang, her opponents targeted Thekla, aiming to trap the “Toxic Spider”. Their plan was to edge her out while battling each other. However, alliances in the ring quickly shifted. Statlander and Shida initially worked together against Hayter but soon turned against each other. Shida used a kendo stick to break up a pin attempt and slapped her teammate, leading to a heated exchange.

Thekla, though repeatedly pushed out, waited for the perfect moment. Outside the ring, Hayter and Shida collided, trying to execute a double clothesline. This left Statlander alone in the ring, dazed. Thekla seized her chance, delivering a powerful stomp to Statlander. She then pinned her opponent, securing her title defense.

Thekla, hailing from Austria, first won the AEW Women’s World Championship from Statlander in February during “Dynamite”. Since then, she’s successfully defended her championship six times. Her next move remains uncertain. During the post-match discussion, she expressed interest in the upcoming Owen Hart Women’s Tournament and voiced support for her teammate, Skye Blue, to win.
