Authorities are dealing with an incident involving gunfire near the White House. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the situation, indicating that shots were heard in the vicinity. Journalists present on Saturday described hearing a sequence of gunshots and were instructed to take refuge inside the press briefing room. Here, U.S. Secret Service officers ensured they remained in place.

There have been no reports of injuries following the gunfire. The Secret Service mentioned on X that they are “aware of reports of shots fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW,” which is close to the White House. They are working to verify the situation with personnel present at the location.

FBI Director Kash Patel used social media to inform the public that officers are actively responding to the gunfire situation. He committed to providing updates as the situation develops.

During the occurrence, President Donald Trump was inside the White House. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Department has yet to release any additional information regarding the incident.
