Paul George made an impressive start with the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. He scored 31 points in just three quarters against the Detroit Pistons.
George set a new all-time franchise record for a Celtics debut, exceeding the previous record. Kristaps Porzingis had previously held the record with 30 points scored during his debut in 2023.
At 36, George is starting his 17th NBA season. This past offseason, he joined Boston as part of a major trade with the Philadelphia 76ers that sent Jaylen Brown away.
On Tuesday, George successfully made six out of his eight 3-point attempts within the first three quarters. If he keeps up this high level of play, he will be an outstanding match for superstar Jayson Tatum. George took on the scoring responsibility as Tatum failed to score on any of his seven 3-point attempts.
Despite George’s remarkable 38-point performance, the Celtics fell to the Pistons with a final score of 121-113.
