Self-checkout machines promised faster and more efficient shopping. Yet, many find them frustrating. On a recent supermarket visit, I experienced this firsthand.
Using the self-checkout, I faced multiple prompts. The machine asked if the total amount was correct. I was questioned about charity donations. The number of bags used required input, as did whether my card was credit or debit. Finally, I needed to enter my PIN.
This experience left me irritated, reflecting a common sentiment. Self-checkouts aim to streamline the process. However, these frequent interruptions can make quick shopping difficult.
