Caleb Williams Injury Update: Chicago Bears Quarterback Escapes Major Setback

39 minutes ago 0

The Chicago Bears received promising news regarding quarterback Caleb Williams on Monday. Despite fears of a significant injury, Williams only suffered a strained hamstring, according to a source from OutKick. He is not expected to miss considerable time after the incident during Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Williams’s injury is identified as a Grade 1 hamstring strain. During the fourth quarter at Soldier Field, he grimaced in pain following a run against the Vikings. Although Williams was carted off the field, the expected recovery time is between one to three weeks, as Bears coach Ben Johnson shared with ESPN1000 in Chicago. He described Williams’s status as ‘week-to-week’ and has not ruled out the possibility of him playing in the upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, a source indicated that this is a ‘very optimistic’ view.

The main concern was that Williams might have suffered a full detachment of the hamstring. This fear arose after he seemed to injure himself during an untouchable scramble out of the pocket. However, assessments show that his hamstring remains structurally intact. Williams’s initial reaction—screaming while on the turf—did not represent the injury’s severity, according to reports.

In the absence of Williams, backup quarterback Tyson Bagent will step in for the Bears in the games missed. Coach Johnson confirmed this decision. Having overcome hamstring issues previously, Williams is set to start his rehabilitation program as early as Monday.
