Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Alec Pierce suffered an injury setback during the Sunday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Pierce’s heel, previously treated surgically, was aggravated, causing him to exit the game in the first half. As a result, the Colts endured a 33-30 defeat in overtime at Arrowhead Stadium.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Pierce aims to recover from the injury through rehabilitation, potentially avoiding further surgery. However, Pierce is expected to be sidelined for several weeks and might return mid-season. Rapoport speculated that Pierce might be placed on injured reserve as he heals. While there is optimism for recovery without surgical intervention, the need for surgery remains a possibility.
Following Rapoport’s update, Tom Pelissero announced that the Colts are bringing veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton onto their roster. Slayton, a seasoned player, spent seven seasons with the New York Giants. He was released before the season opener. During his time with the Giants, Slayton played alongside quarterback Daniel Jones, who now leads as QB for the Colts. In the 2025 season, Slayton participated in 14 games, including 12 starts, accumulating 37 receptions for 538 yards and one touchdown.
The Colts, currently standing 0-2, aim to secure their first victory of the 2026 season. They face the Houston Texans in Week 3, scheduled for the upcoming Sunday.
