Riot Fest has announced a delay in the start of Day 3, scheduled for Sunday. The delay is set until 2 p.m. The festival organizers attributed this decision to overnight rains that have impacted the park grounds.
“Due to the overnight rains and to remediate the moistness of the park grounds, we are anticipating gates opening at 2 PM,” the festival’s social media update stated.
As of now, the event schedule for the day remains unaltered. This decision follows an earlier closure on Saturday, which was announced in the afternoon. Several performances were shortened or canceled as a result, with Tool performing in their headline slot at 6 p.m., and the event concluding at 7 p.m.
The National Weather Service forecasts rain will persist in Chicago until at least 2 p.m., with possibilities of further precipitation extending to 7 p.m.
Day 1 of Riot Fest opened on a mild note, featuring acts apart from the well-known punk artist Iggy Pop. Photos from the event have captured its essence at Douglass Park.
