Mackenzie Phillips and Celebrities Embrace Celibacy

Mackenzie Phillips, 66, recently shared insights about her shift from an extroverted lifestyle to a more reserved one. During an upcoming episode of Valerie Bertinelli’s podcast, Phillips described how her social energy gets drained quickly after busy days.

“I would get home, and I would have no words left,” she shared. “To recharge for the next day, I needed solitude. This is why I’ve been celibate for 15 years.” Bertinelli supported her choice, stating there’s nothing wrong with celibacy.

Phillips reflected, “I’ve had enough sex to last a lifetime. I can take care of my wounded parts without dating.” Her previous marriages include music manager Jeff Sessler and guitarist Shane Fontayne, both ending in divorce.

In 2005, Phillips married Keith Levenson, which also ended after two years.

Celibacy is gaining attention in Hollywood. Sharon Stone revealed her choice for celibacy in a podcast, describing her new approach to relationships.

“I’ve been celibate for quite a while,” Stone mentioned. “I seek companionship, not just physical connections.” Her relationship with dating has evolved over time, and she now desires meaningful connections.

Stone’s marriages include producer Michael Greenburg and journalist Phil Bronstein, with both ending in divorce.

Teri Hatcher, 61, expressed her own celibacy stance during an interview with HELLO!. She stated, “I’m so single and haven’t dated in seven years.” Despite having a community of friends, she doesn’t actively seek dates. Hatcher’s marriages include Marcus Liethold and actor Jon Tenney.

Attempts to date via apps, like Hinge, led to her profile being flagged as fake. “They thought I was pretending,” Hatcher said, sharing her disinterest in dating apps now.

Hatcher maintains contentment without seeking a partner. Her stance reflects a growing trend among celebrities who find fulfillment in singlehood.
