Honoring 9/11 Heroes with a Return to Ground Zero

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, led by CEO Frank Siller, has taken a significant step to honor the heroes of September 11, 2001. Together with his nephew, Stephen Siller Jr., they have brought a World Trade Center steel beam back to Ground Zero.

Retracing a Hero’s Journey

Frank Siller and his family members paid tribute to Stephen Siller, a firefighter who lost his life during the 9/11 attacks. Stephen, a 34-year-old husband and father, heroically traversed the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel on foot, carrying his equipment, to assist at the Twin Towers. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation retraced his steps as a tribute on the 25th anniversary of the attacks.

“Together, they carried Stephen’s memory, his legacy, and the promise that his sacrifice would Never Be Forgotten,” noted the foundation.

Steel Across America Tour

The foundation organized the “Steel Across America” tour, transporting a 21-foot, 16,900-pound steel beam from one of the Twin Towers around the United States. After covering over 10,500 miles and making nearly 40 stops in over 21 states, the tour concluded with the Siller family’s journey through the tunnel.

This tour served as a meaningful event for communities to remember September 11th, honor first responders and veterans, and educate a new generation about the historical significance of the attacks.

A Continuing Legacy

Stephen Siller Jr., who was nine months old when his father died, expressed gratitude during a “Fox & Friends” appearance for the foundation’s work in preserving his father’s legacy. The foundation’s efforts provide support through events and charitable acts nationwide.

“Every day we have events across the country. Every day we’re helping somebody in his name,” he stated.

The Foundation’s Mission

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation honors the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller through various initiatives. Born out of the tragedy of 9/11, the foundation provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families. It also constructs specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. Additionally, it offers scholarships for the children of home recipients and endeavors to eliminate veteran homelessness.

The organization remains committed to ensuring America never forgets the events of September 11, 2001. This mission, rooted in the story of a hero’s sacrifice, continues to inspire and support communities nationwide.
