As the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks draws near, former President George W. Bush shared insights on his decision to visit a mosque shortly after the events. Bush’s speech took place during an event titled “A Legacy of Service: America at the 25th Anniversary of 9/11,” held at his presidential center in Dallas. There, he revisited his response to the attacks in a conversation with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

He explained that his decision to visit a mosque stemmed from concerns about the treatment of Muslim Americans. During the 2001 mosque visit, Bush met with Muslim leaders, specifically addressing the fears among Muslim women who wore head coverings. He acknowledged the intimidation they faced and stressed that such behavior had no place in America.
