Timeline of Amazon Cargo Jet Crash at Miami Airport Revealed

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have revealed a sequence of events showing that pilots lost crucial seconds during a recent incident at Miami International Airport. The Amazon cargo jet, unable to control its descent fully, overran the runway resulting in a tragic accident.

The cargo plane touched down with apparent hesitance from the pilots, who seemed to temporarily consider aborting the landing. This indecision likely caused the aircraft to lose valuable runway space and time. The jet eventually struck two vehicles, crossed a public road, and stopped, resulting in the loss of five lives.

You either land or you go around. You don’t land, attempt to go around, and then get back to landing again, unless there was some mechanical malfunction, said aviation expert Steven Arroyo, a retired United Airlines pilot.

Experts regard the situation as highly unusual, as typically a decision is made to land or circle back. The NTSB plans to release the cockpit voice recorder’s transcript soon, adding more clarity to these events. Further interviews with the pilots are scheduled, according to the board’s chair, Jennifer Homendy.

During a late-night news briefing, Chihoon Shin, the lead investigator, highlighted the final 30 seconds recorded by the flight data recorder. Flight data recorders cease operation when the aircraft loses electric power, as would occur in a crash.
