Iceland Protests Following Trump’s Controversial Map Post

2 weeks ago 0

Iceland took diplomatic action by summoning the U.S. ambassador. This was in response to a social media post by President Donald Trump. The post depicted a map that painted Iceland and neighboring countries like Canada, Cuba, Mexico, and Greenland in the colors of the United States flag and labeled them collectively as the ‘United States of America.’

On Tuesday, Icelandic officials condemned the post. They described it as an ‘insult’ and deemed it ‘completely inappropriate.’ The map’s portrayal stirred diplomatic tensions, highlighting the sensitivity and importance of national boundaries and representations.
