Rescuers are actively searching for a missing woman involved in a vehicle accident in the Riverdale neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred when a vehicle lost control and ended up in the Calumet River.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near the 13000 block of South Indiana Avenue. The vehicle struck a barrier before plunging into the water. Five people inside managed to escape and reach safety on land.
Among the rescued individuals, a man was assisted by the Chicago Police Department Marine Unit. He was transported to UChicago Medicine and is reported to be in serious condition.
The search for the missing woman continued as of 7 a.m., with officials actively working to locate her. The Major Accidents Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
