A Miami steakhouse manager, Stefano Eduardo Cremasco-Cicero, 36, is facing charges following the death of his mother. He reportedly emerged from his apartment with a knife, claiming self-defense to the police. Arrest records from Miami-Dade County show he is charged with second-degree murder.
The incident occurred early Friday morning at a high-rise in Brickell. Police responded to a call around 4:47 a.m. and found Cremasco-Cicero in the lobby, blood-stained and pointing officers to his apartment. Inside, they discovered his mother with multiple stab wounds. Miami Fire Rescue pronounced her dead shortly after.
The victim, who was visiting from Mexico, was staying with Cremasco-Cicero. The situation began with a food delivery driver who interacted with him and noted the blood. Cremasco-Cicero himself called 911 but handed the phone to the driver for building details.
Cremasco-Cicero was reportedly seen on surveillance video with his mother returning to the apartment at about 10:32 p.m. Thursday. He later appeared alone on video at 4:26 a.m. with apparent blood on his clothes and a knife in hand.
Cremasco-Cicero’s wife, in France at the time, stated that his relationship with his mother was strained following his parents’ divorce. Cremasco-Cicero had been preparing to open a restaurant, adding to his stress.
Police collected evidence, including blood-stained clothing and knives, from his apartment. Records identify Cremasco-Cicero as a Miami resident via an investor visa, with a detained status under immigration authority due to illegal status allegations.
Homeland Security confirmed a detainer against him, emphasizing adherence to legal processes. The motive behind the incident remains undetermined, as further investigations continue.
