Optimism and New Beginnings for the Raiders

Las Vegas is synonymous with hope and new beginnings. This year, optimism surrounds the Raiders as they introduce key players who promise to end their ongoing rebuilding phase. A new chapter in Sin City looks promising.

Last Season’s Performance

The Raiders endured a difficult 2025 season, finishing at the bottom of their division with a 3-14 record. This earned them the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Despite the losses, standout performances from tight end Brock Bowers and pass rusher Maxx Crosby provided some highlights. However, their offensive struggles were clear, with the team scoring a league-low 241 points. Offensive issues, turnovers, poor road performance, and inconsistent quarterback play led to the departure of head coach Pete Carroll.

Offseason Changes

To revamp the offense, Las Vegas appointed Klint Kubiak, former offensive coordinator for the Seahawks and Vikings, as head coach. His track record suggests he can transform an offense loaded with talent. The Raiders overhauled their quarterback roster by signing Kirk Cousins to a multi-year deal and drafting Fernando Mendoza as the No. 1 pick. This marked the end for Gardner Minshew, but Cousins and Mendoza are expected to fill the void.

Roster Developments

Offensively, the team anticipates stability under Cousins, playing behind a revamped offensive line. Bowers, alongside Michael Mayer and Tre Tucker, enhances their offensive potential, while Mendoza develops as a reliable backup. Ashton Jeanty is also expected to benefit from a dependable quarterback.

On defense, Crosby continues to lead the pass rush, supported by Kwity Paye and a transformed linebacking group that includes Quay Walker and Nakobe Dean. Taron Johnson and the secondary need to withstand complex passing attacks for the defense to improve its efficiency.

Betting Prospects

The Raiders are unlikely to repeat last season’s performance. While playoff aspirations might be ambitious with strong division rivals like the Broncos, Chargers, and Chiefs, improvements are evident.

Surpassing the 5.5-win threshold is uncertain. Cousins struggled in Atlanta, mirroring the current Raiders’ situation. However, Kubiak’s coaching style could provide a difference, with Mendoza poised to step up if needed.

Ashton Jeanty stands to have a productive season. Last year he scored five rushing touchdowns, but expect an increase with improved quarterback support and coaching. A total of over 7.5 touchdowns and 974.5 rushing yards seems attainable. While there are concerns about trailing in games, Kubiak might employ a ball-control strategy, allowing Jeanty more opportunities.
