Vice President JD Vance expressed enthusiasm for meeting former President Joe Biden in New York City. This meeting coincides with the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Vance commented, “I’m really looking forward to hanging out with Joe Biden. I’m sure that we’ll have many, many intense intellectual conversations and, you know, it’ll be great. We’ll have a great time with Joe Biden and the other presidents.” He shared this during a White House press briefing, the first since Karoline Leavitt’s departure as press secretary in August.
Along with former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and former first ladies Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush, Vance plans to participate in the remembrance ceremony at Ground Zero on 9/11.
During the briefing, Vance explained his travel to New York, while President Donald Trump would remain in Washington, D.C., to commemorate events at the Pentagon. Both locations were crucial during the events of 9/11. Trump is expected to attend a ceremony at the Pentagon, while other officials will be in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, recognizing all targeted sites of the attacks.
Vance reflected on the significance of the day, emphasizing the honor of attending the New York ceremony. He noted the importance of explaining 9/11 to younger generations, describing it as “one of the most amazing experiences” of his life. Vance shared that he had shown the memorial names to his children during his 2024 campaign.
The event, according to Vance, holds potential for reinforcing unity and shared purpose among Americans. His message encourages all Americans, especially the younger ones, to understand the day’s impact.
