Cubs’ Trent Thornton Faces Frustration on the Mound

Trent Thornton of the Chicago Cubs experienced a challenging game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field. During the Cubs’ 9-5 defeat, Thornton’s frustration was evident.

Thornton entered the game in the fourth inning with a runner on third base and two outs. The Cubs trailed 6-5. He managed to strike out Luis Lara, defusing the immediate threat.

Thornton showed his frustration by throwing his glove in the dugout and yelling. Despite his struggles, the damage stopped there. Ryan Rolison replaced Thornton and successfully retired the next two hitters, maintaining the score at 6-5.

This season marks Thornton’s first with the Cubs. In his 44 games so far, he has a 3.40 ERA across 45 innings and has earned three saves.

Ultimately, the Cubs did not score further, concluding the game at 9-5. This loss represented the third defeat in their four-game series with the Brewers. The Cubs stand at 78-62, while the Brewers hold a record of 87-53. The final game between the two teams was scheduled for Thursday at 7:15 p.m. ET.
