AOC Endorses Florida Senate Candidate Angie Nixon

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, representing New York as a Democrat, has endorsed the Florida Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Angie Nixon. This announcement comes ahead of Nixon’s upcoming election against Republican Sen. Ashley Moody in November. Ocasio-Cortez emphasized the importance of supporting leaders who prioritize working families over special interests.

“At a time when working families are fighting to make ends meet while the Administration sells them out to corrupt special interests, we need to stand behind leaders who are accountable to working people and stand up to greedy corporations,” Ocasio-Cortez stated, as per Nixon’s campaign.

Nixon is preparing for the special general election against Sen. Moody. Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Moody to the U.S. Senate last year after Marco Rubio left to serve as Secretary of State, vacating his Senate seat before his term ended.

Nixon’s campaign stands out with its focus on universal healthcare, childcare, and a national rent freeze, all pursued without corporate PAC money. Ocasio-Cortez noted Nixon’s commitment to community power and values, endorsing her for the U.S. Senate.

“Angie did not get here by yielding to major political machines; she did it by building community power and by fiercely committing to her values, and that’s why I’m proud to endorse her,” Ocasio-Cortez stated in Nixon’s campaign announcement.

Nixon expressed gratitude for Ocasio-Cortez’s endorsement and support for her campaign. She emphasized the need to prioritize people’s needs over the interests of the wealthy.

“AOC is a fighter and a reminder of what’s possible when you put the needs of the people first… Together, we’re going to fight for everyone: working families, students, and communities ignored for too long,” Nixon said.

Sen. Ashley Moody is backed by former President Donald Trump, who expressed his confidence in Moody via a Truth Social post. In the post, Trump criticized Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who lost to Nixon in the Democratic primary. Trump reiterated Vindman’s impeachment involvement and triumphantly supported Moody as a “fantastic senator.”

“The most gratifying loss last night was that of a real treasonous creep, Alexander Vindman… who will go down to certain defeat at the hands of Ashley Moody, a truly Fantastic Senator,” Trump declared.
