Three years ago, Mercedes Moné was seen at an All In event, watching the women’s division closely as she considered joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Months later, she made her debut and quickly became a major force. She won the TBS Championship from Willow Nightingale and held it for over 500 days until Nightingale defeated her on December 31, 2025. This event set the stage for their rivalry, especially after Nightingale became the AEW Women’s World Champion and Moné won the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.
On Sunday, Moné made a significant impact by capturing the AEW Women’s World Championship. She capitalized on Nightingale’s broken hand during the match, eventually forcing her to pass out in the Money Maker submission hold. The match was intense, with Moné receiving an early injury when Nightingale struck her nose.

Nightingale attempted to keep fighting, delivering a suplex outside the ring and a powerful pounce that unintentionally hit the referee. Both wrestlers used the referee’s fall to their advantage. In the final moments, Nightingale’s energy depleted completely, leading the referee to end the match.
With this victory, Moné will start her first reign as AEW Women’s World Champion, adding to her achievements. She previously held the TBS title and twice won the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. As Moné celebrated her victory, another potential challenger emerged.
High above Wembley Stadium, Thekla watched closely, indicating a possible future match. Earlier in the show, Thekla returned to AEW programming for the first time since losing the title to Nightingale at Redemption.
With the upcoming All Out event, a battle between Moné and Thekla in September seems likely.
