A White House official informed NewsNation, The Hill’s sister network, that Vice President Vance will visit New York City. Administration officials will attend commemorations at all three sites associated with the tragedy. The New York Times reported Trump initially considered speaking at Manhattan’s Ground Zero on the anniversary. Factors such as a subsequent trip to his golf course in Doonbeg, Ireland, influenced his decision to opt for the Pentagon.
Politicians haven’t delivered speeches at Ground Zero since 2012. White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated, “As a proud New Yorker, President Trump has spoken about his experiences during the events of September 11, 2001.” She added that Trump would honor those murdered by terrorists, their families, and the brave first responders. The President commemorated the anniversary at the Pentagon last year as well. Both Trump and Vance previously attended the Ground Zero ceremony in 2024 alongside President Biden and Vice President Harris.
Additionally, the Trump administration has requested the Supreme Court allow enforcement of a ban on transgender troops in the military. This issue has reached the high court for the second time, seeking a review of the ban’s constitutionality following a blocked appeals court decision.
