Ohio Man Arrested for Making Threats Against Congressman and President

An Ohio man named Alex Justin Miller, 26, was apprehended by the FBI for allegedly making violent threats against Rep. Randy Fine, a Jewish Republican congressman from Florida, and calling for the death of former President Donald Trump. As detailed by the Department of Justice (DOJ), Miller is accused of delivering a ‘true threat’ to Fine and his family.

The DOJ stated that Miller faces charges for interstate transmission of a threat to injure. If convicted, he could face up to five years imprisonment. The FBI, along with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Secret Service, and Capitol Police, conducted the investigation.

Rep. Fine, in speaking with Fox News Digital, expressed the graphic nature of the threats he received, saying, ‘It was so graphic. It says, ‘I’m gonna murder you. I’m going to cut your head off. I won’t stop.’ I reported it immediately. I unfortunately have learned what the difference is between a nasty message and a death threat, and this clearly was a death threat.’

The message reportedly included terms such as ‘Nazi f—s,’ outlined intentions to burn down the congressman’s house, and stated persistence in threats until, as quoted, ‘your head is hanging from the rooftops of the White House.’ The communication concluded with threats to both Randy Fine and Donald Trump.

Rep. Fine received the threat via email on the morning of Florida’s primary Election Day. Expressing his concerns, Fine noted, ‘I don’t know what this person’s motives were for writing this, but it’s someone not from Florida. So, you know, this was not a local constituent that was upset.’ He also emphasized that federal officials deserve heightened security protections.

The DOJ clarified that law enforcement swiftly located and detained Miller within 36 hours following the threat. Rep. Fine voiced his gratitude, stating, ‘I’m incredibly grateful to the U.S. attorney, the FBI, the Capitol Police, and all the law enforcement in Florida who took this seriously. The bottom line is, don’t do this. Don’t write messages like this to elected officials, Republican or Democrat.’
