Tom Brady’s Stance on NFL Preseason Participation

2 hours ago 0

Tom Brady has a clear message for NFL players who prefer watching preseason games from the sidelines: get on the field. The seven-time Super Bowl victor criticized the increasing trend of seasoned players skipping exhibition games.

This response followed a fan sharing an old clip of Brady playing extensively in a 2010 New England Patriots preseason game. The clip highlighted Brady’s commitment during an August 26, 2010, match against the St. Louis Rams. Brady played through New England’s first offensive series of the fourth quarter and completed 18-of-22 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns, achieving a perfect 158.0 passer rating. Notably, one touchdown was a 65-yard pass to Randy Moss.

He shared the video on his Instagram Story, expressing his view: Preseason… Regular season… I never wanted to be taken off the field. Practice makes perfect, and added, Too many people looking for easy ways out these days.

Critics argue it’s prudent to sit stars out of preseason games due to injury risks, especially with the NFL’s 17-game regular season. Coaches aim to preserve their top players from potential harm in August. However, Brady dismisses this logic, asserting: When you’re a football player, and it’s football season, your job is to play football.

Some might see his stance as a typical complaint from a retired player urging younger players to work harder. Yet, Brady’s record of seven Super Bowl victories supports his perspective.
