Continued Investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance

Attorney General Todd Blanche stated on Sunday that transferring the investigation of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance in Arizona to the FBI might not be the best approach. He emphasized that federal investigators are actively assisting state and local law enforcement agencies.

Blanche conveyed this message during an appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.” He explained, “We are working closely with state and local law enforcement. This collaboration involves manpower and forensic support. Our aim is to ensure the investigation is thorough and proper without necessarily taking control.”

Nancy Guthrie, mother of “TODAY” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing on February 1 in Tucson, Arizona. The case has captured national focus.

Despite investigative efforts, Nancy has not been located, and Pima County investigators are yet to release significant findings. Initially, authorities classified her case as an abduction. FBI-released videos from Guthrie’s home security system depicted a masked, armed individual outside her residence shortly before her disappearance.

According to a report earlier this month in The Wall Street Journal, local authorities, assisted by state forces, remain at the forefront of the investigation, with the FBI providing necessary support.

Shortly after Nancy’s disappearance, then-President Donald Trump reached out to Savannah Guthrie. He assured her of comprehensive federal support for the family and local law enforcement. Trump shared this commitment via a post on Truth Social.

On Sunday, Attorney General Blanche mentioned that he lacked new information to share, expressing regret about the situation. “I’m sorry to say that because I wish I had an update, and I know that this type of case is heartbreaking, especially when it plays out nationally like this one has,” he said.
