Michele Tafoya, a former NFL sideline reporter, secured victory in the Republican primary for Minnesota’s Senate race. She defeated party-backed candidate Adam Schwarze and Royce White. Tafoya’s triumph came without the formal endorsement of the state Republican Party, which had chosen Schwarze, a former Navy SEAL and Marine, at the party convention in Duluth.

Tafoya will now face Democrat Peggy Flanagan, the Minnesota Lieutenant Governor, in the general election. Flanagan emerged as the Democratic nominee after defeating Representative Angie Craig in the primary.
