Lindsay Clancy, 35, faces charges of first-degree murder for the deaths of her three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, on January 24, 2023, in their Duxbury home. Clancy has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors, with assistant district attorney Jennifer Sprague leading the case, argue the murders were premeditated. Meanwhile, Clancy’s lawyer, Kevin Reddington, contends that Clancy admits to the killings but asserts she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder, affecting her criminal responsibility.
Julie Paul, appearing in Plymouth Superior Court, is the 61st witness for the prosecution. On Monday afternoon, she testified about prescribing psychiatric medication to Clancy, stating that Clancy did not express any self-harm or homicidal thoughts.
On Tuesday morning, Paul is scheduled for cross-examination. However, Judge William Sullivan indicated a possible delay due to consultations with the attorneys before proceedings commence.
If convicted on first-degree murder charges, Clancy could face life imprisonment without parole. Alternatively, if the jury deems her not criminally responsible, she might be committed to a state psychiatric hospital.
